Migration Mundhum — The River Path

Recited during gatherings where multiple Kirat communities come together, reminding them of their shared origin at the great confluence.

Transliteration

Khuwalung Mundhum

English Translation

From Khuwalung the people divided, following the rivers that called to them. Those who heard the song of the Tamor walked east and became the Yakthung. Those who heard the song of the Arun walked north and became the mountain Rai. Those who heard the song of the Dudh Koshi walked toward the white peaks and became many clans. And those who heard the song of the Sun Koshi walked west toward the setting sun. But all remembered Khuwalung. All carried the Mundhum in their mouths. All knew they were one people divided by rivers, united by memory.
